Police say former chief justice Rana moved to secure location

Police have said that former chief justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, who was taken into custody from his residence, has been moved to a secure location.

“We have taken him to a place he considers appropriate,” Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Khadka told Setopati. “We have also increased his security.”

Police took Rana into custody from his residence in Maharajgunj at around 3 a.m. on Sunday. He was then taken to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku.

Police moved him to another location about 10 hours later.

However, police have not disclosed where Rana is being kept. Police have said that he was taken into custody because of a security threat, but have not provided details about what the threat was.
