Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has left for India on a three-day visit.
At the invitation of the Government of India, Wagle departed Kathmandu for New Delhi on a flight at 7:35 a.m. on Thursday.
According to his secretariat, the main objective of the visit is to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across various economic, political, and diplomatic issues, including post-disaster reconstruction.
Finance Minister Wagle is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman, at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
On Friday morning, he will attend a high-level diplomatic dialogue organized by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran, where he will participate as the chief guest.
He is also scheduled to meet Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at 5 p.m. on Friday.
On Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., Wagle will attend a large networking event hosted by Javed Ashraf, chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organization.
Similarly, on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., he will deliver the keynote address at a conference with prominent industrialists organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry. At 11:30 a.m. the same day, he will attend an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics as the chief guest.
He is scheduled to return to Nepal at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The delegation accompanying Wagle includes Amrit Lamsal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance; Gehendra Rajbhandari, joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Surendra Thapa, deputy chief of mission at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi; Taranath Adhikari, minister (economic) at the Nepali Embassy; and Under Secretary Kanchan Basnet, private secretary to the finance minister.
