The non-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress is preparing to hold a national gathering in Kathmandu from August 14 to 16.
The faction is making preparations for the gathering under the coordination of former general secretary Shashank Koirala.
Koirala said that former party president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will also participate in the gathering.
Deuba is scheduled to return to Nepal at noon on August 13 after five months.
The gathering is being organized under the leadership of leaders who did not participate in the special general convention held in January. They have already held gatherings in all seven provinces.
The Supreme Court is set to restart hearing in the case related to the special general convention. The court recently granted permission for a review of the case.
Coordinator Koirala has also formed various committees, such as a political report drafting committee, for the gathering.
He has sent letters to the presidents of all seven provinces. Previously, only the provincial presidents of Sudur Paschim and Karnali used to participate in the gatherings of the non-establishment faction.
On August 7, Koirala sent letters to the provincial presidents urging them to participate in the gathering organized to determine total party unity and future courses of action.
Koirala has invited municipal presidents, general convention and Mahasamiti members, federal/provincial constituency presidents, district presidents, former central members, former lawmakers, former ministers, and former office-bearers to participate in the national gathering.
