Political parties have issued a joint appeal regarding the Sunsari incident.
A seven-point appeal was issued by an all-party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday at the initiative of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.
The appeal was signed by RSP President Lamichhane, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden, Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur, Shram Sanskriti Party General Secretary Aaren Rai, and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Prakash Adhikari.
The nine parties urged people not to engage in any undesirable activities or provocative actions that could disrupt the mutual brotherhood and social harmony that have existed in society for centuries.
“It is necessary for everyone to be aware of the fact that anger and confrontation do not resolve problems but only create further complications,” the appeal stated.
The parties said that even the most complex dissatisfaction and problems can only be resolved through peaceful dialogue and consensus in a democracy, and urged all concerned to present their demands and grievances peacefully.
The nine parties also urged the government to normalize the situation while exercising maximum restraint, and to conduct an impartial investigation into the incidents and take action against the guilty.
