Nepali Congress ministers in Lumbini province have submitted their resignations.
Nepali Congress Whip Dhanalaxmi Shrestha handed over the ministers’ resignation letters to Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya on Tuesday.
Nepali Congress Chief Whip Jamuna Dhakal said that along with the ministers’ resignations, the party has also withdrawn its support to the government.
The ministers had submitted their collective resignations to the Nepali Congress parliamentary party office. After it became clear that the three-point agreement reached between the CPN-UML and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) was likely to be implemented, their resignations were handed over to the chief minister.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal recently reached an agreement to form a new coalition to from governments in all seven provinces.
Immediately after the agreement, five ministers from the Nepali Congress serving in the Lumbini provincial government had submitted their resignations to the parliamentary party leader on Sunday.
