An arrest warrant has been issued for Nepali Congress lawmaker Abhishek Pratap Shah.
Shah has been accused of involvement in a group assault on Sitaram Sharma, president of the Krishna Nagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sharma had filed a police complaint two days earlier, alleging that a group of 15 to 20 people, including lawmaker Shah and Krishna Nagar Municipality Mayor Rajat Pratap Shah, came to his home and assaulted him.
Following Sharma’s complaint, police registered a case and initiated legal proceedings.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripendra Kumar Singh, information officer at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, a case has been registered against Shah and the court has issued an arrest warrant for him.
“An arrest warrant has been issued against Shah, and police are preparing to arrest him,” he said.
Shah was elected to the House of Representatives from Kapilvastu Constituency No. 3 on a Nepali Congress ticket.
