All ministers from the Nepali Congress (NC) serving in the Karnali province government have resigned from their posts.
They met Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel before the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning and collectively submitted their resignations.
There were four ministers representing the NC in the Karnali government – Ghanashyam Bhandari, Rajeev Bikram Shah, Suresh Adhikari, and Bijay Budha.
Minister for Social Development Ghanashyam Bhandari confirmed to Setopati that all four ministers from the NC had resigned together.
"We met the chief minister and requested him to serve the people well, stating that we have cleared the way," Bhandari said.
When asked if this was a move to form an NC-led government in Karnali, he replied, "We haven't thought that far ahead yet. We have simply asked the chief minister to serve the people well."

The Karnali Cabinet has seven members, including four ministers from the NC and three from the CPN-UML. With the NC ministers stepping down, the Kandel-led government has plunged into a crisis.
The Karnali Provincial Assembly consists of 40 members.
The current provincial government was formed through an alliance between the NC and the UML. The two parties had reached an understanding to take turns leading the provincial governments.
