The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a committee to investigate the self-immolation incident involving Ganesh Nepali.
During the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, Home Minister Sudan Gurung announced the formation of a five-member committee to investigate the incident.
According to Minister Gurung, Deputy Inspector General Govinda Thapaliya of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Rani Pokhari, has been appointed as the coordinator of the committee.
"We have formed a five-member committee under the coordination of DIG Govinda Thapaliya. We have taken three municipal police officers into custody for questioning," he said. "We will conduct an impartial investigation into this matter."
The three municipal police officers taken into custody include two women and one man.
Nepali, a permanent resident of Mugu, passed away on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. He had attempted self-immolation on the road behind the Department of Passports in Tripureshwar on Thursday afternoon.
