The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki for the position of chief election commissioner.
A meeting of the council held on Friday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers decided to recommend Karki for appointment to the position.
He is currently serving as the registrar of the Supreme Court.
According to a source, the meeting also decided to recommend Rajib Subba for the vacant position of election commissioner, and Guru Prasad Wagle for the position of election commissioner that will become vacant starting July 7.
Subba is a former deputy inspector general (DIG) of Nepal Police, where he served as an information technology expert. After retiring from police service, he was also associated with Madan Bhandari University.
Wagle previously served as a deputy attorney at the Election Commission and has since retired from that position.
