Members of the Nepali Congress must complete the updating of their active memberships by midnight on Thursday in order to participate in the party’s 15th general convention, scheduled for September.
Party General Secretary and coordinator of the membership management central committee, Pradip Paudel, said that active memberships can be updated until midnight on Thursday and that no further extension will be granted afterward.
According to him, out of a total of 782,209 members eligible to update their active membership, 457,366 members had already received their NCID (Nepali Congress Identification Number) as of the evening of June 10. The party has said that those without an NCID will not be allowed to participate in the general convention.
In addition, 124,748 members have already submitted update forms and entered the membership update process, Paudel said.
The update campaign was launched seeking additional details from those who had renewed or obtained new memberships by last January.
Paudel said that every active member can easily update their membership online through the party’s website using their own mobile phone. He urged members who are unfamiliar with the process to seek assistance from ward-level party presidents or knowledgeable individuals and complete the update before the deadline.
The Nepali Congress has been running the online membership update campaign with the goal of making membership management digital and organized.
In the past, the party possessed little information about members beyond their names. The new digital system aims to end the lack of systematic record-keeping and create an organized, updated database containing active members’ basic information.
