The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has completed its conventions in 56 districts.
According to Shankar Shrestha, secretary of the party’s central organization department, elections were held in nearly 90 percent of the districts where conventions have taken place.
Shrestha said that conventions are underway in 12 other districts. In some of these districts, voting has concluded and the counting of ballots is in progress.
Most of the districts in Madhesh province have yet to hold their conventions.
The conventions in Mahottari, Rautahat, Siraha, Parsa, and Sarlahi are currently in the election phase. Conventions in Saptari and Bara have been scheduled for Tuesday, while the Dhanusha convention is set for Wednesday.
The central organization department reported that the Sindhupalchowk district convention has stalled at the leadership selection stage. Although the central election commission formed an election committee led by Kavre lawmaker Madhu Kumar Chaulagain and dispatched it to the district, it has not yet been able to conduct the convention.
Among the districts where RSP has held conventions, Arghakhanchi and Bardiya have elected women to leadership positions. Sita Parajuli has been elected in Arghakhanchi, and Shanta Budha Chhetri has been elected in Bardiya.
