The Nepali Congress has extended the deadline for updating active party memberships.
The update campaign, which was originally scheduled for April 14 to June 4, has now been extended until June 11.
According to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal, the decision was made during Thursday’s meeting of the central membership management committee, led by General Secretary Pradip Paudel.
"In recent days, the process of updating active memberships has been progressing with great enthusiasm across the country. As we have received reports from various party levels that the allotted time was insufficient, the deadline for updating active memberships has been extended for the final time until 12 midnight on June 11, 2026, per the decision of the central membership management committee," a statement issued after the meeting reads.
The party is currently updating membership records by collecting additional details from members who had renewed their memberships by January. According to the party, around 400,000 members have updated their active memberships so far.
Additionally, the party has announced that the portal for new active membership applications is now open online.
During the 14th general convention in 2021, the Nepali Congress had 882,816 active members. Among them, only about 600,000 had renewed their memberships as of January.
