The Nepali Congress has decided to continue obstruction of Parliament and also boycott meetings of parliamentary committees.
NC parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe said that the party will not participate in any parliamentary committee meetings until June 8 unless Prime Minister Balen Shah appears in Parliament and apologizes.
The NC has been obstructing House proceedings since PM Shah said during a question-and-answer session in the House of Representatives on Sunday stated that “it appears Nepal has also encroached on Indian territory.” The party has demanded that he apologize for the statement.
The party has also objected to the passage of the House of Representatives Regulations, arguing that they were pushed through in a way that places lawmakers above the law.
As part of its protest strategy, the party has now decided to boycott meetings of parliamentary committees as well.
