Prime Minister Balendra Shah has clarified that the issue concerning Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura will be resolved through diplomatic dialogue.
Responding to a question raised by Padma Aryal, deputy leader of the CPN-UML parliamentary party, during Sunday's House of Representatives meeting, PM Shah said that discussions regarding Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Pass are being held not only with India and China, but also with the British government.
"National sovereignty, national integrity, and independence are more precious to us than life itself. We have been claiming Nepal’s land, and it is being included in our maps. That is an area of trilateral concern involving Nepal, China, and India. However, today, a bilateral agreement between India and China is being used to rapidly construct a trade route by ignoring Nepal. What is the Nepal government's stance on this, and what is the government doing?" MP Padma had asked.
"It seems you are trying to ask a question regarding Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura," the prime minister replied. "In this context, the Nepal government has already sent a diplomatic note to the Government of India, and a response has also been received. The response proposes that both governments resolve this issue through table talks involving historians, surveyors, and experts familiar with territorial matters. We have discussed this not only with India and China, but also with the British government. Since this issue has persisted since the British left India, it is our position that the UK should also have a stake in this matter. I would like to inform you that this will be resolved through table talks and diplomatic means," he said.
