Krishna Prasad Yadav, the chief minister of Madhesh province, has won a vote of confidence.
In the vote of confidence motion tabled by Chief Minister Yadav in the provincial assembly on Friday, 62 votes were cast in favor of the proposal, while 36 votes were cast against it.
A total of 100 lawmakers were present in the provincial assembly session, though two lawmakers abstained from voting.
Following the division of votes, the speaker officially announced that the chief minister had secured the vote of confidence.
Lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Nepali Communist Party voted in his favor.
Chief Minister Yadav had to seek the floor test after the Janamat Party withdrew its support to the provincial government on May 4.
Yadav is the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress.
