The Kaski District Court has ordered the withdrawal of money laundering and organized crime charges against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.
Following approval from then-attorney general Sabita Bhandari, the District Government Attorney's Office had filed a petition at the district court, requesting to drop the two charges against Lamichhane while keeping the cooperative fraud charge intact.
Delivering a verdict on the petition on Friday, a bench of Judge Himlal Belbase upheld the decision to drop the money laundering and organized crime charges.
"As the petitioner's claim appears reasonable, the court has amended the main, additional, and supplementary charge sheets related to this petition in accordance with the demand. The cooperative fraud charge remains in place, while the charges concerning organized crime and money laundering will no longer be sustained," the court order states.
