The CPN-UML has appointed House of Representatives member Padma Aryal as the deputy leader of its parliamentary party.
Aryal, who is also a party secretary, was nominated to the post by parliamentary party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa.
UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar told Setopati that Secretary Aryal has been nominated for the role.
“There is a provision in the party’s parliamentary party statute that allows the parliamentary party leader to appoint a deputy leader. Accordingly, the parliamentary party leader has appointed the deputy leader,” he said.
Earlier, the UML had appointed Mahar as chief whip and Nita Ghatani as whip.
The party has 25 lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
