Nepali Congress has issued a statement regarding the recent raids conducted by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation on the residence and offices of Indra Bahadur Baniya, chief minister of Bagmati province, saying the matter should proceed according to legal procedures rather than political prejudice.
Party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said that while it is natural for questions to arise against individuals holding public office, such matters must be resolved through lawful procedures and evidence, not through rumors or political bias.
“It is natural for questions to arise against individuals holding public office, but their resolution should come not from public speculation, political prejudice, or propaganda, but solely through evidence, facts, and due legal process. The strength of state institutions lies in exercising their authority in an impartial and credible manner,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Baniya has also stated that he would cooperate with the investigation.
"Regarding the investigation conducted by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, Chief Minister Baniya has already made a public commitment to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation on him. The Nepali Congress views this readiness shown by him to facilitate the investigation process as a sign of democratic culture and political maturity," Chalise added.
