Former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) following gallbladder surgery.
The procedure was performed on Monday at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
According to his secretariat, Oli’s health condition is improving.
“Former prime minister Oli is still in the ICU. He will probably be shifted to the ward tomorrow. Doctors have said that he will remain in the hospital for a few more days,” a member of his secretariat said.
The surgery was performed by a team led by Prof Dr Divya Singh Shah, head of the Nephrology Department at TUTH, and Prof Dr Mahesh Raj Sigdel.
The team also included Prof Dr Paleshwa Joshi Lakhe, Associate Prof Dr Bishnu Prasad Kandel, and Dr Deepak Sharma.
From the Anesthesiology department, Dr Amit Sharma Bhattarai and Dr Pankaj Joshi were involved in the operation.
In the ICU, Prof Dr Pramesh Sundar Shrestha and Dr Hemraj Paneru are attending to Oli.
