The election for Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader is scheduled to take place later this week.
The party is preparing to release the election schedule with the election fixed for April 17.
NC Joint General Secretary Prakash Rasaili, who is the coordinator of the election committee, said that the election schedule for parliamentary party leader will be announced on April 15.
“The election committee will release the election schedule on April 15, and the election will be held on April 17,” he said. “If there is no consensus, the parliamentary party leader will be elected through competition.”
There are 38 Nepali Congress lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
Several leaders, including former joint general secretaries Arjun Narsingh KC and Bhishma Raj Angdembe, and lawmakers Mohan Acharya, Nishkal Rai, Basana Thapa, among others, are aspiring to become the parliamentary party leader.
