Oli expected to undergo gallbladder surgery on Monday

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is expected to undergo gallbladder surgery on Monday.

According to Dr Gopal Sedhain, deputy director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Oli was admitted due to gallstones and preparations are underway to perform the surgery on Monday if possible.

“He was admitted to the hospital because of the gallstone problem. We are assessing the risks for the surgery. The plan is to conduct the surgery on Monday if possible; otherwise, it will be done on some other day next week. He will remain in the hospital until then,” Sedhai said.

Police arrested Oli on the morning of March 29. Since then, he has been at TU Teaching Hospital for health check-ups.

Following a Supreme Court order, the District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu decided on Thursday to release him on personal cognizance.
