The Parliament Secretariat will then publish the list of candidates at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
If more than one candidate is nominated, the election will proceed on April 5.
On that day, once the House meeting commences, the proposers will present the candidates, and the supporters will second the motions. The secretariat said that the nominations will be discussed collectively and put to a vote in the order they were registered.
In the current House of Representatives, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) holds a near two-thirds majority with 182 members. The RSP has already decided to field party Vice-president Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal as its candidate for the post of speaker. This decision was finalized during a parliamentary party meeting held on Thursday.
