Doctors are preparing to make a decision on Wednesday regarding the health of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
After developing health complications, Oli was admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, where he is currently under medical supervision.
According to hospital sources, Oli has expressed a desire to have gallstones removed from his gallbladder.
“Doctors are discussing what should be done about the stones found in his gallbladder. We will reach a conclusion,” the source said. “He wishes to undergo surgery, but discussions are ongoing about whether the stones can or should be removed at this time.”
Oli was arrested on Saturday morning.
He was initially taken to the hospital for a health check-up that day. He was admitted after an irregular heartbeat was detected.
Further examinations revealed gallstones in his gallbladder.
The inquiry commission formed to probe the Gen Z movement held on September 8 and 9 last year had recommended action against Oli too. Police arrested him based on that recommendation.
The commission recommended investigation and prosecution against Oli under Section 181 of the National Penal Code 2017, related to causing death through negligence.
The offense carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 30,000.
