The government has sought to keep former prime minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak in custody for 10 days to facilitate investigation into killings on September 8.
The Kathmandu Police produced the duo to the Kathmandu District Court Sunday morning to extend their judicial remand. The hearing is currently underway in the bench of Judge Ananda Shrestha.
Due to health issues, former PM Oli, who is currently admitted at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj, was presented to the court virtually. Meanwhile, former home minister Lekhak was physically brought to the courtroom.
The Office of the District Government Attorney has requested the court's permission to detain them for 10 days to continue the ongoing investigation.
