Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has been elected to the House of Representatives from Kathmandu Constituency No. 8.
Shrestha secured a landslide victory with 24,592 votes.
Nepali Communist Party candidate Suman Sayami finished far behind in second position with 3,217 votes.
Nepali Congress candidate Sapana Rajbhandari secured 2,835 votes, while CPN-UML candidate Rajesh Shakya received 1,909 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Nabin Shahi also received 1,909 votes.
Ujyalo Nepal Party candidate Rajan Khadgi obtained 1,033 votes.
With this result, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has now won three constituencies out of the 10 in Kathmandu.
