Vice-president of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Swarnim Wagle has filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
Wagle, who is the party's candidate for Tanahun-1, filed the complaint requesting the identification and prosecution of individuals who he claims prepared false information and spread rumors against him through the social media.
SP at the Cyber Bureau Dipak Raj Awasthi confirmed that a complaint has been received from Wagle. "Please identify and take maximum legal action against those who are creating false and misleading news on social media with the malicious intent of character assassination and disrupting social harmony," Wagle has stated in his complaint.
The complaint mentions that efforts are being made to create confusion regarding his religion and personal status. He also stated that fake content was found being broadcast across various social media platforms.
Furthermore, he has demanded an investigation and action against the individuals and groups spreading such rumors. "I have found that the materials sent by Lakshmi Ghimire, who identifies herself as a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, and Mohan Lama Rumba, were intended with malicious intent to damage my reputation," Wagle has added.
