Advocate Yuva Raj Paudel (Safal) has been arrested on Tuesday.
The police arrested him on charges of spreading rumors and engaging in verbal abuse via social media. A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu arrested him on Tuesday, according to SSP Ramesh Thapa.
"He was arrested on charges of verbal abuse and spreading rumors. We have extended his remand and moved forward with the investigation," he said.
Safal had leveled allegations targeting the Office of the Attorney General and Attorney General Sabita Bhandari, involving negative remarks, profanity, abuse, defamation, and claims of withdrawing cases in exchange for money.
The office had sent a letter on January 21 requesting action against him.
The police arrested Safal after videos were also made available. The Kathmandu District Court has granted a three-day remand to proceed with the investigation.
