The Parsa District Court has demanded a bail of Rs 10 million from Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane in the case of embezzling cooperative savings.
In the case involving embezzlement of funds from Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative in Birgunj, the bench of Judge Rudra Prasad Subedi demanded the bail of Rs 10 million from Lamichhane on Tuesday.
Registrar Prabhakar Kumar Mallik told Setopati that Lamichhane is currently in process of depositing the said bail amount. Lamichhane will head to file his candidacy in Chitwan-2 from there.
The Government Attorney's Office in Parsa had claimed an indemnity amount of Rs 115.69 million in the Sano Paila Cooperative case. That case was registered back on June 13, 2025.
Even though the case had been registered, he had not appeared in the court. After he appeared on Tuesday, the court conducted a preliminary hearing Tuesday itself and demanded the bail amount.
