Three National Assembly lawmakers have resigned from their posts.
Narayan Kaji Shrestha of Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Bam Dev Gautam who was nominated by the president on recommendation of the government, and Bhagwati Neupane of CPN-UML have submitted their resignations.
All three handed over their resignations to National Assembly Chairman Narayan Dahal at the Singha Durbar on Sunday. They resigned from their positions to become candidates in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5. The terms of all three lawmakers were set to expire on March 4.
Shrestha is set to become a candidate from Sarlahi-3. Similarly, Gautam is preparing to contest the election from Bardiya on an NCP ticket. Neupane is preparing to contest the election from Tanahun-1.
