Central members of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) took their oaths of office at a ceremony held at the party’s central office in Paris Danda, Kathmandu, on Tuesday afternoon.
The NCP central committee will have 2,499 members. However, this body is currently being referred to as the general convention organizing committee.
The NCP was formed on November 5, 2025, following the merger of 10 constituent groups including the CPN (Unified Socialist). More than 17 groups and individuals have joined the NCP so far.
The party includes leaders ranging from Bam Dev Gautam, Bhim Rawal, and Rajendra Shrestha to Ranjita Shrestha of the Nagarik Unmukti Party. Just on Sunday, the Limbuwan Revolutionary Party led by Manish Limbu and a group led by Janata Samajwadi Party Vice-chairman Shivalal Thapa merged into the NCP.
When the party unification was announced on November 5, it was agreed to hold a general convention within six months and to form a 199-member central committee.
On Tuesday, nearly 2,250 central members were sworn in. An additional 200 central members from the former CPN (Maoist Center) are yet to be finalized.
Earlier, party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal were sworn in by the party’s senior-most member, Nanda Kumar Prasain.
Dahal then administered the oath to the remaining central members.
Due to the large number of members, the oath-taking ceremony was conducted in the party office courtyard.
