The inquiry commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9 has issued a formal letter to then-prime minister KP Sharma Oli.
According to a source at the commission, the letter was dispatched recently.
"A letter has been sent to former prime minister KP Sharma Oli," the source said.
However, it remains unclear whether the letter summons him to appear in person at the commission's office for a statement or requests a written response to a set of questions.
The commission has already recorded statements from most individuals linked to the incidents of September 8 and 9.
High-ranking officials, including then-home minister Ramesh Lekhak, have already appeared before the commission and provided their statements.
However, former prime minister Oli has consistently stated in public that he will not appear before the commission to give a statement.
