An agreement has been reached on the number of office-bearers to be included in the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) from the camps of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, who recently signed separate agreements to join the party.
According to an RSP source, it has been agreed one general secretary and one joint general secretary will be appointed from Shah’s group.
Similarly, Ghising’s group will get one joint general secretary and one joint spokesperson position under the agreement.
“A gentleman’s agreement has been reached to include two office-bearers each from the Balen and Kulman groups,” the RSP source said. “Their respective nominations are yet to be submitted according to the agreement.”
Party President Rabi Lamichhane recently signed separate agreements to bring both Shah and Ghising into the RSP.
The agreement with Shah includes fielding him as the prime ministerial candidate in the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Energy Minister Ghising, who is also the patron of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, has been made the party’s top-ranked vice-president after Lamichhane. Among the vice-presidents, Ghising is followed by Dol Prasad Aryal and Swarnim Wagle, respectively.
At present, Kabindra Burlakoti is the only general secretary in the RSP, and Bipin Acharya the only joint general secretary.
The party, however, has two joint spokespersons: Pratibha Rawal and Ramesh Prasai.
