Five political parties have submitted their closed lists of proportional representation (PR) candidates to the Election Commission.
The submission of closed lists of PR candidates for the House of Representatives election, slated for March 5, 2026, began on Sunday.
According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Election Commission, five parties had submitted their closed lists of PR candidates by Monday noon.
The five parties that have submitted their lists include the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Nepal Loktantrik Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, Janapriya Loktantrik Party, and the Communist Party of Nepal Marxist (Pushpalal).
The deadline for submitting the closed lists is set for 4 p.m. on Monday.
According to spokesperson Bhattarai, the commission first verifies whether the names of the candidates recommended by the respective parties are included in the voter list and then issues a certificate. After receiving this certificate, the process for registering the closed list begins.
He also said that all necessary resources and arrangements have been made for effective service delivery.
Bhattarai added that due to the Election Commission’s busy schedule, the deadline will not be extended.
He also expressed confidence that the parties would submit their lists ensuring the representation of various groups in accordance with legal provisions.
