Bhagawati Chaudhary has secured the highest number of votes among the candidates for central members at the 11th general convention of the CPN-UML.
Chaudhary, who hails from Sunsari, contested for central member in the open women’s category.
She received 2,044 votes, becoming the central member to receive the highest number of votes at the general convention.
Chaudhary defeated Nepali Congress candidate Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar in Sunsari in the last House of Representatives election.
She has also previously served as the minister for women, children, and senior citizens.
Meanwhile, central member Niru Darlami secured 2,005 votes in the Bagmati women’s category.
