All but two office-bearers have been elected from the panel led by Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the 11th general convention of the CPN-UML.
A total of 17 office-bearers – chairman, four vice-chairs, general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, and nine secretaries – were elected from the Oli panel through the electronic voting held on Wednesday.
Oli was elected chairman, while Prithvi Subba Gurung, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Ram Bahadur Thapa, and Raghuji Panta were elected as vice-chairs.
Oli won the chairmanship with 1,663 votes, while his rival Ishwar Pokharel received 564 votes.
Among the vice-chair candidates, Gurung received the highest number of votes, securing 1,737 votes.
Paudel received 1,675 votes, Thapa secured 1,516 votes, and Panta obtained 1,258 votes.
Gokarna Bista was elected vice-chair from Ishwar Pokharel’s panel, securing 1,368 votes.
Similarly, Shankar Pokharel was re-elected as general secretary from the Oli panel. He secured 1,228 votes, while his rival Surendra Prasad Pandey received 999 votes.
Among the three deputy general secretary positions, two candidates from the Oli panel – Lekhraj Bhatta and Raghubir Mahaseth – were elected.
Bhatta secured 1,452 votes, while Mahaseth received 1,368 votes.
Yogesh Bhattarai from the Pokharel panel was elected deputy general secretary with 1,348 votes.
Candidates from the Oli panel were elected to all nine secretary positions. They are Mahesh Basnet, Padma Kumari Aryal, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Sherdhan Rai, Hikmat Kumar Karki, Khagaraj Adhikari, Yamlal Kandel, Rajan Bhattarai, and Bhanubhakta Dhakal.
Basnet secured the most votes among the secretary candidates. He received 1,544 votes, while Aryal and Rai each received 1,530 votes. Bishwakarma received 1,506 votes, Karki 1,337 votes, Adhikari 1,331 votes, Kandel 1,185 votes, Bhattarai 1,181 votes, and Dhakal received 1,108 votes.
