Voting is underway at the 11th general convention of the CPN-UML to elect a new leadership.
The voting began at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday. A total of 532 delegates had cast their ballots by 2:15 p.m., according to the party’s election commission.
There are 2,262 delegates participating in the UML general convention.
The party has said that the voting will be completed by 10 p.m. on Wednesday, after which vote counting will begin immediately.
Voting is being held to elect 19 office-bearers including the chairperson, 301 central committee members (some of whom have already been elected unopposed), and office-bearers of three commissions.
The polling is taking place at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu.
It is taking each voter approximately 25 to 40 minutes to cast their ballot, as voting is being conducted using electronic voting machines.
