CPN-UML leader Raghuji Panta, who had filed his candidacy for the post of vice-chairman at the party’s 11th general convention, has been included in the team of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli, according to leaders.
Panta had been aspiring for the vice-chair position but was not included in the list of candidates prepared by Oli’s group.
After Panta registered his candidacy independently, both Oli’s group and the group led by Senior Vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel tried to persuade Panta to join their respective teams.
Oli also held talks with Panta on Monday.
After leader Pradeep Gyawali declined to contest for the vice-chair position, one post in the Oli panel became vacant. According to leaders from Oli’s group, Panta was included to fill that slot.
The UML has a provision for five vice-chairs.
Meanwhile, Gyawali has only filed candidacy for central member.
