CPN-UML leader Raghuji Panta is set to contest for the post of vice-chairperson at the party’s 11th general convention.
Panta has decided to leave the group led by Chairman KP Sharma Oli and run for vice-chairperson from Senior Vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel’s faction.
Speaking to Setopati, Panta said that he was preparing to contest the election for vice-chairperson.
“I have already taken the nomination form to run for post of vice-chairperson,” he said.
Although the names of Ram Bahadur Thapa, Pradeep Gyawali, Bishnu Paudel, Guru Baral, and Prithvi Subba Gurung have reportedly been finalized for vice-chairperson from the Oli camp, Gyawali remains firm on contesting for the post of general secretary.
After his name was not included among the vice-chairperson candidates from the Oli camp, Panta, who was close to Oli, decided to run for vice-chairperson from the Ishwar Pokharel camp.
