Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to expand her Cabinet on Friday.
She has already forwarded the names of four ministers to the Office of the President. The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on Friday at Sheetal Niwas.
The ministers being sworn in include Kumar Ingnam, Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Madhav Chaulagain, and Shraddha Shrestha.
Shrestha will take charge of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens; Ingnam will lead the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation; Bhandari will head the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security; and Chaulagain will oversee the Ministry of Forests and Environment.
Ingnam is a professor at Kathmandu School of Law. An expert in international trade and arbitration and financial crime law, Ingnam has authored several books. Before joining Kathmandu School of Law, he taught at Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus in Ilam.
Bhandari is a former additional inspector general of Nepal Police. He was the founding chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Chaulagain is a public health expert and has conducted extensive research on the Karnali region. He has published a book on Karnali titled Sapadalaksha Karnali, and his song Mantha Hun Ma Mantha gained significant popularity recently.
Shrestha is a senior manager at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). She was the project chief of the Sustainable Tourism program at NTB.
With this expansion, PM Karki’s Cabinet will have 14 members.
