Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secretariat member Santosh Pariyar has left the party.
Pariyar, who served as the party’s chief whip and a lawmaker under the proportional electoral system in the dissolved House of Representatives, resigned from the party on Friday.
Speaking to Setopati, Pariyar confirmed that he had left the RSP.
“I have quit the RSP; now I will launch a new campaign,” he said. “I will issue a press statement today and provide further information.”
Pariyar had sent his resignation letter to General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti. In the letter sent at 1:57 p.m. on Friday, he informed General Secretary Burlakoti, addressing him directly, that he had left the party.
After the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9, Pariyar had been dissatisfied with the party leadership. Although he participated in the extended meeting held in Sauraha, Chitwan, he did not stay for the entire duration.
Earlier, outgoing House of Representatives member Sumana Shrestha also left the RSP.
