The Election Commission has called for party registration for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly elections.
Issuing a notice on Friday, the commission invited political parties to register for the election for the National Assembly seats that are about to become vacant and for the House of Representatives election.
One-third of the seats in the National Assembly will become vacant starting March 4, 2026. The term of National Assembly Chairman Dahal will also end in March. To fill the vacant positions, the election has been scheduled for January 25, 2026.
The commission issued the notice requiring political parties to complete their registration between November 17 and 23 for the National Assembly election.
In the National Assembly election, the voters will be provincial assembly members, mayors/deputy mayors of municipalities, and chairpersons/vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities.
The House of Representatives election has been scheduled for March 5, 2026.
