President Ram Chandra Paudel has removed Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari from her position.
On Tuesday, President Paudel removed Province Chief Bhandari on the government’s recommendation.
According to a statement issued by Pradeep Kumar Koirala, spokesperson for the President’s Office, President Paudel relieved Bhandari of her duties on Tuesday as per Article 165 (1) (b) of the Constitution, based on the decision and recommendation of Monday’s Cabinet meeting.
Province Chief Bhandari had faced criticism after she administered the oath of office to Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav at a hotel early morning on Monday.
The government has recommended Surendra Labh as the new province chief.
