The Department of Revenue Investigation, the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, and the National Investigation Department, previously placed under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, are set to be returned to their original ministries.
According to a source from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Sunday will decide to bring the Department of Revenue Investigation and the Department of Money Laundering Investigation back under the Ministry of Finance, and the National Investigation Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Then-prime minister KP Sharma Oli had brought these powerful agencies under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on February 28, 2019.
In 2021, when Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba was prime minister, discussions were held about returning these departments to their original ministries. But Deuba did not take any initiative either.
