Former deputy prime minister and energy minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who was in judicial custody pending trial in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, has also absconded.
CPN-UML leader Rayamajhi escaped from the Bhadra Detention Center in Sundhara on Wednesday. Currently, only 100 people who did not escape are left in the Bhadra Detention Center at the Central Jail which only has 300 to 400 other inmates.
Rayamajhi, who escaped from the prison, is out of contact. However, a source said that other prisoners are calling the administration and promising to return. "They are calling and saying, 'We will come back. Yesterday, it just happened,'" the source said.
The prisoners who escaped from Nakkhu Jail later went to the Central Jail and vandalized it. The army is now transferring the prisoners who tried to escape from Dillibazar Jail to the Central Jail.
