Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has resigned Tuesday afternoon.
PM Oli submitted his resignation citing the need for a political solution after the Gen-Z protests spiraled out of control. He had been appointed as prime minister on July 14, 2024.
He submitted his resignation to President Ram Chandra Paudel, stating it was for a political solution and to address the ongoing issues.
"I was appointed as Prime Minister on July 15, 2024, in accordance to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. In light of the current extraordinary circumstances in the country, and to initiate further efforts for a constitutional political solution and problem-solving, I hereby resign from the post of Prime Minister, effective today, in accordance to Article 77 (1) (a) of the Constitution," Prime Minister Oli stated in his resignation.
