Protestors have set fire to Ullens School in Khumaltar, Lalitpur on Tuesday.
According to Lalitpur Police, a fire engine was dispatched but was turned back by the protestors. "Protests and arson are happening at various places, but the police are unable to reach them. The fire engine went and had to return," a Lalitpur Police officer stated.
The Juddha Fire Brigade Office in Lalitpur also reported that they have received news of arson from multiple locations but have been unable to respond. Firefighter Commander Raj Kumar Thakuri confirmed that a fire engine had to turn back from Satdobato. "We waited for half an hour at Satdobato. The protestors requested us to turn back, so we did," he said.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba is the chairperson of Ullens School.
Curfew orders have been issued in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country, but protesters have taken to the streets. They have carried out arson and vandalism at various places, including at the homes of political leaders.
