Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is under increasing pressure to leave the government.
Leaders Shekhar Koirala, Gagan Thapa, and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have all stressed that the grand old party should withdraw from the government stating that the seven-point agreement with CPN-UML has lost its relevance.
Agriculture Minister Ram Nath Adhikari, from NC, has announced his resignation. His personal secretary, Nava Raj Timilsina, informed Setopati that Minister Adhikari had already emailed his resignation letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday.
"The minister had been consulting with leaders like Shekhar Koirala since yesterday and was waiting for the party to decide to leave the government. Since the party did not make a decision, he resigned," Timilsina said.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had already resigned from his position on Monday evening. Other ministers from NC are also consulting with the party about their resignations.
