Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli to resign immediately stating that the grand old party should not remain in this government for another day.
In a social media post Tuesday morning, General Secretary Thapa wrote that Oli must take responsibility for the suppression of Monday's Gen Z protest and step down from his position.
"I couldn't sleep the whole night. The whole of Nepal, both within the country and abroad, like me, has not been able to sleep. That cruel scene of innocent youths being killed unnecessarily is replaying in front of my eyes," Thapa wrote. "PM must take responsibility for this suppression and resign immediately."
He further stated that NC should not remain a witness and partner to this situation for another day.
"NC must immediately withdraw from the government. I will work to get this decision passed in the party's meeting," he said.
