The statute convention of the CPN-UML is underway at the Sunrise Hall in Godawari, Lalitpur.
The convention began at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli presented the political report at the convention. General Secretary Shankar Pokharel is scheduled to present the organizational report, while Vice-Chairman Bishnu Paudel will present the statute amendment proposal.
Additionally, separate reports from the central audit, discipline, election, and advisory councils will also be presented.
On Saturday, delegates will be divided into 10 groups to discuss the documents.
On Sunday, leaders of the 10 groups will present group-wise suggestions on the political report.
After the leadership responds to these suggestions, the election process for the party's central election commission will begin.
In the UML, the central election commission is elected by the statute convention. The commission will select the leadership for the upcoming general convention.
After electing the office-bearers and members of the election commission, the statute convention will conclude with contemporary resolutions.
A total of 2,341 participants are attending the statute convention, of which 2,026 are delegates and 315 are participating as organizers.
The UML has made the statute convention high-tech. Delegates have been provided with digital cards.
Welcome arches have been constructed at various points along the main road leading to Godawari.
This time, delegates have not been provided with accommodation facilities. However, the UML has said that transportation arrangements have been made for the participants to reach the convention venue.
