The CPN (Unified Socialist) has recommended seven names for the party’s candidate for the by-election in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3.
The party’s Rupandehi district committee, at a meeting held in Bhairahawa, recommended seven names, including General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.
Bhusal was elected to the House of Representatives from the constituency in 2017 as a candidate of the CPN-UML.
According to the party, the recommended candidates include Lumbini province Vice-chairman Kamal Bhandari, Rupandehi district chairman Hiradhwaj Shah, province committee members Anand Prasad Gupta, Asha Chaudhary, Thaneshwar Kharel, and Rupandehi-1 co-incharge Bijaylaxmi Raya.
A task force formed to select candidates will recommend three names, including one woman, to the central committee from the list provided by the district.
The task force comprises Deputy General Secretary and Lumbini province in-charge Met Mani Chaudhary, central Secretary and province co-incharge Som Prasad Pandey, province chairman Abdul Hussein Khan, Rupandehi district in-charge Nandalal Banjade, and Rupandehi chairman Hiradhwaj Shah.
Deputy General Secretary Chaudhary said that the task force will hold discussions with all seven candidates and recommend three names after assessing their election strategies.
The by-election in Rupandehi-3 is scheduled for November 3.
